Our Story

How we got to your table

A cooking school, then a kitchen
Holly Tate came to catering through teaching. Steeped in a lifetime of Southwestern spice and formally trained in Paris, France, she founded the Everyday Gourmet Cooking School in Winston-Salem and taught this city to cook before she ever plated a wedding.
Seventeen years, chef owned
The company has stayed family run and chef led since the beginning. No account managers, no rotating kitchen crews. The people who taste your menu with you are the people who cook it.
The kitchen comes to you
Portable ovens, refrigeration, and a 900 lb mobile wood-fired grill travel to the venue, so a barn, a vineyard, or a showroom can serve food that tastes like it left a restaurant line thirty seconds ago.
Sourced close to home
Piedmont farms, Goat Lady Dairy chevre, and seasonal produce set the menu more than any printed list does. [Sourcing partners to be confirmed by client]

The Tate Difference

A chef's kitchen, a family's standard

Holly Tate, founder
Steeped in a lifetime of Southwestern spice and formally trained in Paris, France, Holly first entered the catering scene in Winston-Salem when she founded the popular Everyday Gourmet Cooking School.
Chef Ben, 25 years in the kitchen
He is the chef who will cook 300 steaks to perfection, each one just as impeccably done as the last, and a silky mushroom risotto for 450 guests without sacrificing flavor, texture, or temperature.
The team, hand-selected
Water glasses are refilled without request, plates are cleared effortlessly, and every interaction is polished yet warm. This is the Holly Tate Fine Catering service secret.

An evening out, built in

Signature cocktails at Tate's Craft Cocktails

How It Works

Four steps, start to celebration

  1. I.

    Inquire

Tell us your date, venue, and guest count. We respond within 24 hours, and the first call is about you, not a package list.

  2. II.

    Taste

Sit down with Heather and Chef Ben for a tasting prepared exactly as it will be served, and design signature drinks at Tate's Craft Cocktails.

  3. III.

    Craft

We build a proposal menu around your vision, note every allergy plate by plate, and adjust until it's unmistakably yours.

  4. IV.

    Celebrate

The kitchen comes to you, wood-fired grill and all, with a team that refills glasses and clears plates before anyone has to ask.
